EPL: City better than Chelsea –Koeman
Chelsea may be comfortably on top of the EPL log at the moment, but one man that is not being carried away by that fact is Southampton manager, Ronald Koeman.
Koeman, whose side fell yesterday at home to Manchester City by 0-3 said City who won the title last season remains the best team of the competition ahead of the Blues.
“Man City are the strongest team in the Premier League and you have to be good to have a good result against them,” Koeman declared after last night’s game.
It would be noted that City won the game despite playing one man down after Eliaquim Mangala was sent off. City courtesy of yesterday’s victory is now second on the table with 27 points. Chelsea who failed to win on Saturday against Sunderland is still comfortably on top the league log with 33 points.
Meanwhile, City’s manager, Manuel Pellegrini has confessed that he is losing sleep over the injury copped yesterday by his Belgian centre-back Vincent Kompany. The injury has thrown Kompany’s participation in the midweek clash with Sunderland into doubt.
“Kompany has a problem with his hamstring,”Pellegrini told reporters.
The Belgium defender has missed only one league match this season, the 2-2 draw with QPR at the start of November, but has spent time on the sidelines with calf, groin and hamstring complaints in recent seasons.
With Kompany carrying an injury and Mangala set to be suspended for the meeting with Sunderland, Pellegrini may have to call on Martin Demichelis and, possibly, Dedryck Boyata for the midweek trip to the Stadium of Light.
