Beyonce Took A Private Jet To London Just To Shop At Topshop

Image
Before Beyonce killed in onstage during her On The Run tour performance in Paris(with surprise guest Nicki Minaj!), she decided to do a little shopping at Topshop before the show. Pretty normal, right? She’s just like us! Well… not exactly. Bey was vacationing in the French Riveria, and she decided she didn’t want to go to the nearest location, but instead to the flagshipall the way in London. So, what’s the quickest way to get there? By private jet. She straight-up walked into their Oxford Circus store all NBD (that’s the UK equivalent to Times Square, people), while the commoners—very appropriately—freaked out. Hours later, she was back at the airport to meet up with Jay in Paris, and honestly, we gotta give it up for her serious brand dedication.

Tish Cyrus: Everyone copied Miley

Image
Miley Cyrus may claim her twerking days are in the past, but her mom, Tish, says otherwise. “Every Saturday morning when we are making breakfast, we twerk in the kitchen. It is so much fun,” she says at Sunday’s Noble by William Rast presentation at the Paramount Hotel’s Diamond Horseshoe in Midtown, home of “Queen of the Night.” “Oh yeah, she has taught me.” As for her feelings on the heat Miley takes in the press, Tish says, “I think that anybody that is interesting and takes risks is always going to be a target. They talked about her cutting her hair off, and now everybody is cutting their hair and shaving half their heads.” But will she follow the trend? “Oh, I would if I wasn’t so old and my hair did not take so long to grow back!” she admits. “I would do it in a second.”

Blatter confirms intention to remain FIFA president

Image
Sepp Blatter has taken another inexorable step towards the certainty that he will declare his formal candidacy for a further spell as president of FIFA. The 78-year-old Swiss would tell his executive committee later this month that he will stand for a fifth term at the world federation’s congress in Zurich in May next year. Blatter set out that timescale in a recorded address to open the Soccerex Global Covention yesterday in Manchester.                                  He said: “A mission is never finished and my mission is not finished. I have told this to FIFA Congress and the congresses of the confederations in Sao Paulo [in June]and then I got not only the impression of, but the support of, the huge majority of national associations asking me: ‘Please go on to be our president in future.’ “Now I will make an official declaration in September when we have our next executive committe meeting. While hanging at the Versace Mansion in Miami this weekend, the Toronto rapper ran into members of the Brazilian national football team. Champagnepapi was “honored” to meet Marcelo Vieira and Neymar Jr., posting photos with them individually, plus a group shot. Drizzy is currently on the road for the Drake vs. Lil Wayne Tour.

Sierra Leone declares Ebola lockdown

Image
Sierra Leone - one of the countries worst hit by West Africa's Ebola outbreak - has announced a three-day lockdown to try to tackle the disease. From 19 to 21 September people will not be allowed to leave their homes, a senior official said. The aim of the move is to allow health workers to isolate new cases to prevent the disease from spreading further. The outbreak has killed about 2,100 people in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and Nigeria in recent months. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced on Friday that health workers could be given vaccines as from November, when safety tests are completed. More than 20 health workers have lost their lives to the virus in Sierra Leone since the start of the outbreak in March.

Joan Rivers funeral will be private

Image
The TV icon detailed an over-the-top plan for exactly how she wanted her funeral to go down in her 2012 no-holds-barred book “I Hate Everyone…Starting With Me.” “When I die (and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything’s in your name), I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action … I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene!” Rivers wrote. “I want it to be Hollywood all the way. I don’t want some rabbi rambling on; I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents. I don’t want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing ‘Mr. Lonely.’ I want to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive. I want to be buried in a Valentino gown and I want Harry Winston to make me a toe tag. “And I want a wind machine so that even in the casket my hair is blowing just like Beyonce’s.” Her final sendoff will be less extravagant than what she described in her book. Rivers’ funeral will be private at

Use Ebola survivors' blood - WHO

Image
The blood of patients who recover from Ebola should be used to treat others, the World Health Organization has announced. A global group of experts have been meeting to assess the experimental therapies that could contain Ebola. The WHO also announced that Ebola vaccines could be used on the frontline by November. Dr Marie Paule Kieny, an assistant director general at WHO said: "We agreed that whole blood therapies may be used to treat Ebola virus and all efforts must be invested to help infected countries to use them. "There is a real opportunity that a blood-derived product can be used now and this can be very effective in terms of treating patients." She said that it was the one positive aspect of so many people being infected. "There are also many people now who have survived and are doing well. They can provide blood to treat the other people who are sick." Hope this will help finally put an end to this virus.

U.N. and Medical Group Make Appeals for Ebola Aid

The United Nations and the medical aid group Doctors Without Borders each issued urgent appeals on Tuesday for international aid to contain the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Senior United Nations officials urged diplomats to cable their capitals to send money, doctors and protective gear to the affected region. The doctors’ group called for countries to send civilian and military biohazard experts. Jan Eliasson, the deputy secretary general of the United Nations, said at a meeting of the General Assembly on Tuesday that the outbreak was “a test to international solidarity.” With more than 3,500 cases that has been confirmed so far, with more than 1,500 deaths, making the outbreak the largest and most complex since the disease was first identified in 1976. Three countries in West Africa — Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone — account for most of the cases, but there have also been confirmed cases in Nigeria and Senegal. I hope this appeal by the UN ad the Medical group will motivat

Counterintuitive Adjustment Helps Caroline Wozniacki Upset Maria Sharapova at U.S. Open

Image
Caroline Wozniacki adjusted and adjusted again, and finally found the secret sauce to  upset Maria Sharapova  at the United States Open on Sunday. Wozniacki, seeded 10th, defeated the fifth-seeded Sharapova, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, by employing two separate game plans to win two different sets and advance to the quarterfinals. Wozniacki won the first set by stretching the court and making Sharapova play as much as possible out of her strike zone. Sharapova committed 28 errors in the opening set, mainly out wide near the alleys reaching for the ball. Sharapova was not able to consistently get her energy behind the ball as her arms were trying to play catch-up for what her legs could not get to.                         Wozniacki had a decisive 19-6 winning edge for rallies between five and eight shots in the first set as she redirected and diffused Sharapova’s power out to the edge of the court. ISIL beheads U.S journalist, Steven Sotloff, releases video

Image
Islamist terror group ISIL has released a beheading video of detained American journalist Steven Sotloff. The video features the journalist in much the same position as fellow U.S journalist James Foley who was executed by the Islamist group two weeks ago. The executioner who spoke with a British accent addressed U.S President Barack Obama with the chilling words: ”Obama, I am back… back off and just leave us alone.”                 ISIL had threatened to kill Sotloff if the United State did not cease its current airstrike campaign against the Islamic State. The United States and the United Kingdom are developing strategies to combat the terror group that has carved out a quasi state in territories belonging to Iraq and Syria. ISIL has committed a litany of atrocities and war crimes that have enraged the international community. It has also attracted a host of local and foreign supporters into its ranks.
